Jeffrey R. Jones

Deputy to the Commanding General

U.S. Army Cyber Command

Jeffrey R. Jones has served as the Deputy to the Commanding General, U.S. Army Cyber Command since November 2023. In this capacity, he manages and provides strategic direction for all aspects of ARCYBER operations, including planning, coordinating, integrating, synchronizing and supervising organization efforts for the conduct of full-spectrum offensive and defensive cyberspace and DoD Information Network (DODIN) operations. Jones serves as a senior advisor, providing authoritative expert advice on all aspects of cyberspace operations, force structure and organizational concepts, and oversees strategic support planning and resourcing strategy to enable the Army to achieve and maintain the right mix of cyber capabilities.

Immediately prior to arriving at ARCYBER, Jones was an Executive for a DoD Defense Contractor. During his DoD career he has also served in the Senior Executive Service as Vice Director, Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4)/Cyber and Deputy Chief Information Officer, Joint Chiefs of Staff/J6; and as Executive Director, Joint Force Headquarters – DODIN.

Jones served with ARCYBER on two previous occasions. From July 2016 to February 2019, he was the Chief of Staff for the Army Cyber Command’s Joint Force Headquarters – Cyber (Army), and from May 2011 to July 2014, he served as ARCYBER’s Chief of Operational Capabilities and Requirements for US Army Cyber Command. Jones is also a retired U.S. Army Reserve Intelligence/Signal officer who served with the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), as well as the Special Operations Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve in Baghdad.

He has earned masters’ degrees in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and in Computer Science from James Madison University, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.
