Sgt. Maj. Bart T. Larango assumed responsibility as acting Command Sergeant Major and senior enlisted advisor, U.S. Army Cyber Command, on Sept. 15, 2020.
Sgt. Maj. Larango was born and raised in Missoula, Montana and enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1992. Upon completion of Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, he was awarded Military Occupational Specialty 25B (Information Systems Analyst). In January 2016, SGM Larango transitioned to MOS 17C (Cyber Operations Specialist).
He has served in all enlisted leadership roles and duty positions, from Squad Leader to First Sergeant to battalion Command Sergeant Major and operations Sergeant Major at the Army Service Component Command level. SGM Larango currently serves as Sergeant Major for the operations directorate (G3), U.S. Army Cyber Command. Sgt. Maj. Larango’s military education includes the Sergeants Major Course and all other Army Noncommisioned Officer Professional Development System Courses; the First Sergeant Course; the Army Cyberspace Operations Planners Course; the Manpower and Force Management Course; the Directorate of Information Management Operations Officer Course; The Total Army Instructor Training Course; Modern Army Combatives Level I and II Courses, and a variety of other professional service and additional duty courses. He has held Security+ and Certified Ethical Hacker professional certifications and is a graduate from the University of Maryland University College with bachelor’s and associate’s degrees in Computer Studies.
His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (with silver and bronze oak leaf clusters); the Army Commendation Medal (with bronze oak leaf cluster); the Joint Meritorious Unit Award; the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals; and many other service- and duty-related commendations. He is also a recipient of the Army Signal Corps Bronze Order of Mercury and U.S. Army Cyber Command Silver Order of Saint Isidore.
